FLASH PORTFOLIO
This page shows website and stand-alone use animations and other, including both personal projects and those for business partners.
Besides this web page showcasing my FLASH work further down I had created an animated resume with flash below.asdThough as mentioned FLASH is no longer supported by most browsers, and considering also the saying ‘content comes before design,’ the amount of animation used here for a cv portfolio is probably unnecessary or superfluous in terms of the intended of the presentation. It was nevertheless worthwhile experimentally.
Cultural
virtual museum splash page
This website, entitled Panoramas, was part of the tri-lateral (Mexico-Canada-US) virtual museum art project created by CHIN (Canadian Heritage Information Network), showcasing landscape art from the three countries.
I was tasked with creating an animation transitioning from Mexican to American and then Canadian landscapes, leading into a final menu screen (the links are not active as this was a temporary site.) The work also included traveling to Mexico to assist in digitization of artworks. For more information about the program or to see the paintings, click here.
Educational
linguistic training site intro
I created this animation as an opening animation to an etymology self-study site for Japanese students of English. I used a FLASH function of masking to create the impression of a spotlight. I tried to provide a combination of Japanese and English text in the imagery to reflect the bilingual nature of the site (and students’ aspirations).
Trade show promotion
company presentation
This animation showing the company’s distribution centers and service locations across the country was presented at the annual IAPA health and safety conference and trade show in Toronto, one of the largest of its kind. I used Flash and a program called SWISH for the letter animation. A short animation, however getting the timing right on the spotlight moving across the map and zooming in to a city etc. required some diligence.
Web banner
product promotion
Mining lamps are the company’s flagship product. This banner was created to promote a mining equipment exhibition. The concept was to take advantage of the fact of the core product being a light source by animating it in the banner as if it were in use. SWISH was used for the text movement.
Web banner
product training
This banner was created to showcase the user friendliness of the product and to promote training for it.
Portfolio
experimental
This was created to experiment with FLASH animation. I ended up using some elements in my animated resume.
